Big Walk Walkthrough — Full Tower Progression Guide
Walkthrough overview
Big Walk is a hand-crafted cooperative adventure with a designed route and a deliberate ending. You and 2–12 friends explore a wide-open island, solve puzzles to collect reward items, place them at tower receivers to free keys, and progress through a series of interconnected areas. The official FAQ confirms it "has a beginning, a middle, and an end."
There is no single mandatory puzzle order for the four main towers, but you must complete the tutorial area first and collect enough keys to reach the Black Tower for the ending. The game supports challenge skipping for accessibility — the host can enable this in the accessibility menu when starting a session.
Core progression loop
Every area in Big Walk follows the same structure: solve puzzles → collect reward items → place them at a tower receiver → free a key → cut/shave the key → unlock the next area. IGN's walkthrough describes this as "solving these puzzles rewards you with items that you can then place to free a key, which will then allow you to make progress."
The reward items (variously called "gourds," "nubbins," or "Heads" by different communities — the official name has not been published) are physical objects you carry to the tower. Most towers require about five items. Each tower key then needs to be processed through key cutters before it opens the path forward.
A completed reward item is not locked to its tower's color — you can use physical Heads at any active receiver. This means puzzle order is flexible once you have enough items.
Tower routes
Starting area (Tutorial): Four communication puzzles on the starting beach unlock the red drawbridge, giving access to the main island. These puzzles teach core mechanics — the Blue Room pattern copy, the Green Structure synchronized switches, the Mechanical Arm stacking puzzle, and the Cave puzzle.
Red Tower → Map Room: Completing the Red Tower opens the Map Room, which contains a large 3D island map on the floor, three laser pointers, a compass, and a portable foldable map you can carry. This is a major quality-of-life unlock.
Green Tower → Chairlift: Solving all Green Tower puzzles activates a ski lift/chairlift, giving access to the Blue, Yellow, and Black Towers. The Green Tower also has a nearby red frame holding a GPS device with coordinate readouts.
Blue Tower → Train: Completing Blue Tower puzzles gets a train running around the island, providing fast travel between key areas. This significantly reduces backtracking.
Yellow Tower → Tunnels: The Yellow Tower unlocks tunnel access, connecting distant parts of the island and providing another navigation shortcut.
Black Tower → Ending: The final tower. Collecting the Black Sphere triggers the credits sequence and the "Big Goodbye" achievement. After credits, you return to the world for post-game cleanup.
Ending & post-game
The game's main ending is triggered by completing the Black Tower sequence and collecting the final black sphere. A full gameplay walkthrough video by Levas shows: "Black Tower Key (Black Sphere)" at 4:55:29, followed by "Black Sphere" at 6:14:03 and "Credits" at 6:37:17.
After the credits, players return to the world. Completing all remaining puzzles (including purple endgame challenges) unlocks the "Big Game" achievement. Games.gg reports there are 7 purple endgame challenges. The TheGamer notes these are "more challenging iterations of main game puzzles."
Progression tips
- Get the map early. The Map Room is one of the most useful unlocks — prioritize the Red Tower.
- Transport unlocks matter. Chairlift (Green), Train (Blue), and Tunnels (Yellow) reduce backtracking dramatically.
- Carry space is limited. Plan which items to carry and coordinate with your group.
- Challenge skipping is available. Hosts can enable it in the accessibility menu for any challenge that requires abilities like hearing, speaking, quick reactions, or fine motor skills.
- The walkthrough video by Levas (6:43:23, No Commentary) covers the full progression with timestamped chapters if you prefer video guides.
